Masjid al-Ijabah
Overview
Masjid al-Ijabah, the Mosque of the Answered Prayer, is located north of Jannat al-Baqi cemetery. It is a well-maintained mosque in a quiet residential area that draws visitors who know its remarkable prophetic history. The mosque's name itself inspires hope and reflection on the power of supplication.
Historical significance
At this location, the Prophet ﷺ made three significant supplications to Allah. He asked that his ummah not be destroyed by famine, that they not be destroyed by flood, and that they not be divided into warring factions. The first two prayers were granted, but the third was not, serving as both a mercy and a profound lesson about the trials the Muslim community would face. This hadith is recorded in Sahih Muslim.
