Overview
Masjid al-Saqiya is located in the western part of Madinah, along the old road leading toward the direction of Badr. It sits near the Anbariyah area, not far from the old Ottoman railway station. The mosque commemorates a key moment of military preparation and spiritual devotion before the first major battle of Islam.
Historical significance
This is the site where the Prophet ﷺ camped and reviewed his troops before the army's departure for the Battle of Badr in 2 AH. He offered prayers and supplications for victory at this location before leading his modestly equipped force of 313 Muslims toward what would become one of the most decisive battles in world history. The name 'al-Saqiya' refers to a well or water source that was at this spot.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَالصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ، اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ
Bismillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu was-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh. Allāhumma iftaḥ lī abwāba raḥmatik
In the name of Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, open for me the gates of Your mercy.
When leaving a mosque
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ
Allāhumma innī asʾaluka min faḍlik
O Allah, I ask You of Your bounty.
General supplication
رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Rabbanā ātinā fid-dunyā ḥasanah, wa fil-ākhirati ḥasanah, wa qinā ʿadhāb an-nār
Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and save us from the punishment of the Fire.
