Masjid al-Fath

Overview

Masjid al-Fath, the Mosque of Victory, is the largest and most prominent of the cluster known as the Seven Mosques situated on the western edge of the Sala mountain. It sits atop a small rocky hill and is recognizable by its bright white dome. The mosque is the centerpiece of the Seven Mosques historical area and offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

Historical significance

This is where the Prophet ﷺ spent three consecutive days in earnest supplication to Allah during the Battle of the Trench (Khandaq) in 5 AH, seeking divine help against the confederate armies besieging Madinah. His prayers were answered with a fierce wind and unseen forces that scattered the enemy camps, leading to their retreat. The name 'al-Fath' (Victory) commemorates the divine triumph that followed the Prophet's prayers.

The fierce wind that Allah sent against the enemy during the Battle of the Trench was so powerful that it overturned their cooking pots, tore out their tent pegs, and extinguished their fires, causing total chaos in the confederate camp.

Hadith

The Prophet supplicated here for three days during the siege, and on the third day, a powerful wind dispersed the enemy forces.
